Google’s New Search Features That Are Transforming User Experience

Google has unveiled two groundbreaking updates harnessing the power of AI to redefine the search experience. These features, Circle to Search and enhanced Multisearch, aim to make searching more natural and intuitive for users across the Android platform.

The first of these innovative updates, Circle to Search, is set to revolutionize how users interact with content on their Android devices. Launching globally on January 31, this feature enables users to seamlessly search for related information without switching between applications. By simply circling, highlighting, or tapping text, images, or videos within apps, users can instantly initiate a search.

This in-app searching capability is designed to enhance user experience by allowing quick access to information without disrupting the current task. It’s a game-changer for those moments of curiosity when users want to look something up while engaged in another activity on their phone. The feature is set to debut on Google’s latest Pixel 8 phones, including the Pixel 8 Pro, and on Samsung’s recently released Galaxy S24 series devices.

Building upon the success of Multisearch introduced in 2022, Google has unveiled Multisearch 2.0 with enhanced AI capabilities. Originally allowing users to combine image and text searches, Multisearch has evolved to offer a more profound understanding of the world around us. Now, users can point their camera at objects, ask questions, and receive AI-generated answers that go beyond mere visual identification.

One of the significant advancements in Multisearch 2.0 is the introduction of AI-powered overviews. This week, users in the U.S. will experience this feature in English, allowing them to obtain detailed and curated summaries of information from different sources. The AI does the heavy lifting of research, presenting users with concise overviews based on their queries.

These overviews are particularly beneficial when users are curious about an object, product, or concept, streamlining the process of learning and eliminating the need for extensive manual searches. Google’s commitment to enhancing the search experience continues to evolve, with AI-driven innovations leading the way.
