“The Biggest” iOS 18 Update Is on the Horizon

Apple is expected to unveil its highly anticipated iOS 18 software update at its annual Wordwide Developers Converence (WWDC) event in June. According to insights from Bloomberg’s tech expert Mark Gurman, this update is expected to be “the biggest” in the history of Apple’s iOS.

While specific details remain unknown, Gurman previously reported that Apple has ambitious plans for this update, including a revamped version of Siri, leveraging a new AI system to enhance its capabilities. Improvements to auto-completion of sentences and handling questions within the Messages app are also anticipated, elevating the user experience.

Apple Music is expected to receive a significant update as well, with the introduction of auto-generated playlists, a feature that aligns with the trend set by Spotify. This move indicates Apple’s commitment to staying competitive and innovative in the realm of music streaming.

Apple is reportedly exploring the integration of generative AI into development tools like Xcode, a move aimed at empowering developers to create new applications more efficiently. Additionally, popular productivity apps such as Pages and Keynote are expected to receive updates harnessing generative AI.

Another significant update is the potential inclusion of Rich Communication Services (RCS) support in iOS 18. Apple had previously announced its plan to integrate RCS, a standard expected to provide a superior interoperability experience compared to traditional SMS or MMS. Following public pressure on Apple, this move marks a major shift in messaging. However, messages from Android users to iPhones will still be displayed in the familiar green bubbles.
