New Ultra Open Earbuds From Bose Are Changing the Game

Bose’s latest innovation is making waves: the Ultra Open Earbuds. After a quiet introduction through a collaboration with fashion and culture brand Kith, Bose is now officially unveiling these unique earbuds to the public.

Priced at $299, the Ultra Open Earbuds boast a unique design that sets them apart from traditional earbuds. Unlike conventional models that fit snugly into the ear canal, these earbuds wrap around and attach to the outer ear. A silicone-coated flex arm connects the earpiece to a battery barrel positioned behind the ear, which also houses a convenient button for music control.

Bose has opted for a minimalist design with no visible logos on the outer earbuds. Available in black or smoke white, the Ultra Open Earbuds are not just about aesthetics; they incorporate Bose’s OpenAudio technology. This innovative feature directs sound toward the ears while minimizing sound leakage to those nearby, ensuring an immersive listening experience.

With approximately 7.5 hours of continuous playback and an IPX4 water resistance rating, the Ultra Open Earbuds are designed to withstand daily use. Their open design ensures that wearers remain fully aware of their surroundings, making them ideal for outdoor activities such as cycling and running. Bose has refined the design to prioritize comfort, allowing users to wear the earbuds comfortably for extended periods.

While the Ultra Open Earbuds offer impressive features, including support for Qualcomm’s AptX Adaptive for high-quality wireless audio and Bose’s signature Immersive Audio mode, they do omit some functionalities found in other high-end earbuds. Notably, wireless charging and multipoint Bluetooth connectivity are absent, which may deter some consumers.

Despite these limitations, Bose’s Ultra Open Earbuds offer a unique listening experience that prioritizes comfort and awareness of surroundings. With their sleek design and advanced audio technologies, they represent a promising addition to Bose’s lineup of premium audio products.
